Capsule Geology

The MacGold 3 area is underlain by a sequence of marine sedimentary and volcanic rocks of the Upper Triassic Stuhini Group. The stratigraphy has been intruded by Early Jurassic granodiorite to syenite.

A pegmatite pod was found on one of the traverses on the south facing flank of the ridge (samples ECCR141, 142). The pegmatite is exposed in an area of 12 square metres and contains large euhedral quartz, calcite, and epidote. Massive sulphide mineralization consisting of chalcopyrite-pyrite-galena in thin (20-centimetre) lenses is contained in the pod. The pegmatite bodies tend to be small and localized. One sample assayed 0.75 gram per tonne gold, 7.1 grams per tonne silver and 2.5 per cent copper (Assessment Report 20737).

In 1990, the MacGold 3 to 5 claims were owned by Ecstall Mining Corp. and Omega Gold Corp and under option to Golden Arrow Resources. The work consisted of reconnaissance mapping and extensive rock geochemical sampling (124 rocks) from several prominent gossans and mineral occurrences.

In 2006 and 2007, Hathor Exploration Ltd. completed a 7228.7 line-kilometre airborne geophysical survey on the area as the Snip claims of the Iskut project. In 2008, Max Minerals Ltd. examined the property.

In 2013, on their SK claim, Green Swan Capital collected 2 rock samples about 700 metres northwest of the MacGold 3 showing and 1 sample each 500 metres and 800 metres to the southwest of MacGold 3. Assays were not significant.

By 2020, claim ownership of the following showings, Lehto (104B 543), MacGold 4 (104B 544) and MacGold 3 (104B 545) was held by Garibaldi Resources.
